As the calendar moves ahead, it’s time for an update on prototype modeler events. The St Louis event was a big success. David Hussey has posted a gallery of photos from the St Louis meet. More events are scheduled in the next few months. Let’s take a look!

The Mid-Atlantic RPM (MARPM) event is set for September 30 & October 1, 2016 in Fredericksburg, VA. This will be the fourth annual event for Norm Wolf and crew.

RPM Chicagoland will be October 20-22, 2016 in Lisle, IL. This is the granddaddy of RPM meets, marking the 23rd annual event this year. Mike Skibbe is the new chief engineer, with a new local crew pulling the details together. Check out the website for the extensive presentation list and other goodies. I’ve registered and am looking forward to the meet.

Tracks to the Triangle will be held October 20 through the 23, 2016 in Durham, NC. This is not a full RPM event but an NMRA regional convention with an RPM component. Several modelers are working to foster prototype modeling in the Tarheel State.

The Garden State RPM rounds out the year in the heart of New Jersey. A day of presentations, model displays, and a vendor room is followed by a self-guided layout tour the next day. Mark your calendar for November 5 & 6, 2016 in Scotch Plains, NJ.

The model display room at the 2016 Valley Forge RPM was a busy place to review and discuss a wide variety of models.

2017

Looking ahead to the next year, don’t forget the dates for Prototype Rails at Cocoa Beach and RPM-East in metro-Pittsburgh.

Prototype Rails – January 5-7, 2017 in Cocoa Beach, FL

RPM-East – March 24 & 25, 2017 in Greensburg, PA

I have added a new RPM calendar resource as a blog page. It can be found through the main site address and with the other resource pages in the list at the top of the menu item on the right side.

It’s time to get those models rolling so you can bring them to display at upcoming RPM events. For those who have not attended an RPM meet, I highly encourage attending a local event for at least a day. Nearly all of these events have a one day registration, usually at the door. Check the websites for these details. RPM meets have been covered in the hobby press and are a great opportunity to learn more about the prototype and upgrading your hobby skills.
