Upcoming RPM events

In case you haven’t checked the RPM Calendar lately, you might be surprised to see eleven railroad prototype modeler (RPM) events before teh end of 2025.

ELEVEN!!!

Except for two in November, the rest of the RPM meets are scheduled across September and October. December lacks an event, but January has Prototype Rails at Cocoa Beach to kick off a New Year. That makes a dozen total prototype modeler events on the calendar in the upcoming months.

Make plans to attend one of these events. RPM meets are full of great ideas at clinics and in the model display rooms. You will meet modelers ready to share prototype info, modeling techniques, and a few good stories.

I’m looking forward to the September Mid-Atlantic RPM (MARPM) in metro Baltimore-Washington DC. I’ve enjoyed several past MARPM events that have had a great slate of clinics and layouts to visit. I’ll be presenting on using maps for layout design. Travers Stavac and I will be staffing the Layout Design Special Interest Group (LDSIG) table to assist with layout design issues.

Modelers are encouraged to bring models for display and discussion. The Big Room will be full of vendors, models, and a couple of modular layouts.

Scott Wahl returns to the 2025 Mid-Atlantic RPM with his N scale W&OD modules.

In October, I’m headed to metro Chicago for RPM Naperville as one of thirty-five presenters at the event. I’ll be sharing my details on the Baltimore & Ohio Allegheny Yard Branch. It’s the inspiration for my next home layout. The LDSIG table will be there with Ron Burkhardt and me ready to assist with your layout design issues.

David Bott used a Cricut machine to make these structures. He will be presenting Cricut tips and techniques at RPM Naperville.

I recommend reviewing the RPM Calendar to see what is happening near you. The upcoming RPM events are all around the US and a couple in Canada. If you are attending MARPM or RPM Naperville, please drop by the LDSIG table or after one of my presentations for a chat.
